If there is a scientific term I am not sure what it is called; however, it is a very real and often serious problem.

Often a person who has this type of condition is either paranoid about sleeping or afraid to sleep.

I fit into this category, so I speak from years of experience. Unfortunately, I also know many people who have the same problem but have different issues that caused the sleep problem.

Most often people don't want to miss out on life, so they figure that by staying up for as long as they can they can accomplish more. For a short time this might even work for the individual, that is until the lack of sleep catches up with them.

A lack of sleep, especially for a prolonged period of time is extremely harmful. Hopefully you are not looking into starting this yourself... becuause once you start it is often very difficult or near impossible to stop.Just like an eating disorder or other addiction a person might have.

There is a difference. With insomnia you want to sleep and you can't. Bipolar people hate to sleep. I'm Bipolar and sometimes I'll stay up for three days. I'll be in a manic mode and I don't want to sleep. I will feel like I'm missing something. Then I come off of it and feel depressed then all I want to do is sleep.

yes, you are likely lacking exercise. Often when you sleep alot you body becomes more tired. It's true the more you sleep the more you want to sleep. The key is to get out and take a walk. That will give you a little boost of energy. The more active you are the more energy you will have. Don't make yourself crazy thinking there is something "big'" wrong with you. You just need to get up and get moving. Your fine!!! take a multi vitamin that will really help too.
